What the Bible Says About Savings

God Bless you all.
This is my second post in a series concerning the Bible and what it says to us about FINANCES, which I truly hope that you will find insightful and helpful.
The last one concerned DEBT.
Please feel free to forward these posts on to anyone who you think may benefit from these scriptures.
I wonder how many times we believers unknowingly violate Gods guidelines regarding finances and later wonder why all too often, we seem to be in need, or lack financial breakthroughs.
We cannot blame this all on incorrect teaching or lack of, but must take responsibility for our ignorance and go ourselves to Gods word for guidance.
Of course, we must consult Gods word for all life's issues, but the scope of these particular posts are currently focusing on finances, and since there are hundreds of references to finances and money in the Bible, it is certainly important to our Lord God.
These issues are not to be treated lightly if we genuinely hope in His kind providence. His word will never steer you wrong; depend on it !
Matt: 5:18  "I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished."

As with the last post, I will simply provide a list of scriptures relating to the subject. The Bible for the most part, is not as complex or deep as many would believe.
It was indeed, written for all to understand.
This is a list of straight forward, simple scriptures , (in no particular order), that no one should have trouble understanding.
So today, lets deal with  SAVINGS :

Proverbs 21:20
" Precious treasure and oil are in a wise man's dwelling, but a foolish man devours it. "

Proverbs 13:11   " Wealth gained hastily will dwindle, but whoever gathers little by little will increase it. "

Proverbs 13:22   " A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children, but the sinner's wealth is laid up for the righteous. "

Proverbs 10:4-5   " A slack hand causes poverty, but the hand of the diligent makes rich. He who gathers in summer is a prudent son, but he who sleeps in harvest is a son who brings shame.  "

1 Timothy 6:10   " For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs. "

1 Timothy 5:8   "But if any provide not  for his own, and specially for those of his  own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel."

1 Corinthians 16:2  " On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with your income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made. "

Proverbs 6:6–8,   “Go to the ant, you sluggard: consider its ways and be wise … It labors hard all summer, gathering food for the winter” .

Proverbs 22:7  "The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is the slave of the lender. "

Prov. 21:5   "The plans of the diligent lead surely to advantage, but everyone who is hasty comes surely to poverty.  "

Luke 16:10-11   " He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. 11 If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? "

Luke 15:13And not many days later, the younger son gathered everything together and went on a journey into
a distant country, and there he squandered his estate with loose living.

Luke 15:13   "And not many days later, the younger son gathered everything together and went on a journey to a distant country, and there he squandered his estate with loose living."

Our Lord advises us to be sensible and save whatever & whenever we can, for various reasons as listed above.

Again,  I do not claim that this is a complete list, so I  urge everyone to come up with a few more scriptures regarding this subject .

Please continue to look into these topics & scriptures deeper for yourselves. Know your scriptures & rebuke the devil  as Jesus did in the wilderness.

Hosea 4:6 tells us, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you, that you shall be no priest to me: seeing you have forgotten the law of your God, I will also forget your children."NKJV.

I will cover WASTING, as well as GREED, GIVING/OFFERINGS, WORKING/EARNING,  EXTORTION/THEFT, etc. on future posts.

As you will see, many scriptures overlap numerous Biblical financial principles.

How do we know the Lord is truly speaking to us and not our logic or emotions or the devils minions in these evil & deceptive days?

Simple !! Check Gods word. You cannot go wrong and you won't be deceived.

Neither Jesus nor the Holy Spirit will ever replace, contort nor contradict Gods word. So, when in doubt, rely on Gods written word; your sword against the enemy.

Jesus said that He didn't come to do away with Gods Word, (the law and the prophets), but to fulfill it, (Matt. 5:17), and the Holy Spirit is our helper in obeying Gods word, (John 14:16).

May God grant you wisdom & strengthen you, to  keep up the good fight against satan and all his deceiving host, wherever they may lie in wait for you.

2 Timothy 3:13 says, "But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived". Don't buy into the worlds, (satans), ways.
Brethren, we need to know our scriptures; the living word of God.
I Christ's Service,
B.H.
